I hope that all of you
reading this had a beautiful Christmas spent with the ones you love. It was a very
special one for our family, for obvious reasons. I couldn’t help but look around at my family
and all that we have been blessed with and think, who needs presents? It's wonderful to be surrounded by loved ones and really appreciate the true meaning of Christmas.
I have never been the type of
person who started out the New Year with resolutions. But after a pretty chaotic 2011 I’ve decided that
for 2012 I am going to “keep it simple”.
Not a resolution...a new mantra of sorts. I won’t think back on 2011 as the year Dad
was diagnosed. That would give too much
attention to the Cancer. I would rather
think of it as a growing year for our family.
We are stronger in many ways and, as strange as it may sound, I am
thankful for it.
So, an update on Dad....he’s doing great. His blood counts continue to rise without aid
of any transfusions. His Dr. had discussed
radiation therapy at some point but have postponed that for now... great news
for Dad. As you can imagine he is ready
to be doing something else.
His strength and health continues to slowly get better. He goes into work
when he feels well enough and was even able to emcee the Smith and Edwards
Christmas dinner. Many of the employees expressed how happy
they were to have him there. It was a pretty emotional night. There are so many of us that rely on his leadership and knowledge,
it has been difficult not having him around full time.
So with that, I hope that you all have a happy and prosperous New Year. Thank you for all the love and support this
past year. It sure has made it a bit
more bearable knowing friends and family were never far.
